On Thursday, May 11, 2023, the President of the University of Fallujah, Professor Dr. Sabah Ibrahim Hammadi, chaired the meeting of the University of Fallujah Operations Room, in the presence of the Assistant President of the University for Scientific Affairs, Professor Dr. Ahmed Suleiman Hamad, the Assistant President of the University for Administrative Affairs, Professor Dr. Suleiman Barak Al-Jumaili.

The official of the Social Researcher Division in the Department of Internal Department Affairs headed by the University of Fallujah, Mr. Wissam Abd Hamad, participated in the work of the specialized training program to prepare trainers for the project to activate the role of psychological counseling and educational guidance in all Iraqi public and private universities.

University of Fallujah Holds Second Scientific Symposium on Juveniles in Armed Conflicts Under the patronage of Professor Dr. Sabah Ibrahim Hammadi, President of the University of Fallujah, and Professor Dr. Suleiman Barak Al-Jumaili, Assistant President for Administrative Affairs, and under the supervision of Professor Dr. Raed Naji Ahmed, Dean of the College of Law, the College of Law at the University of Fallujah organized its second scientific symposium for the 2022-2023 academic year. The symposium, titled “The Position of International Humanitarian Law on the Participation of Juveniles in Armed Conflicts,” was held on Tuesday, January 24, 2023, at Judge Zia Sheet Khattab Hall. The event witnessed the presence of esteemed guests, including representatives from the Fallujah Police Directorate and the Community Police, alongside university professors and students. Symposium Themes and Speakers The symposium, moderated by Professor Ismail Fadel Halwas, focused on two main themes: The Nature of International Humanitarian Law and Its Role in Protecting Juveniles During Armed Conflicts Lecturer: Dr. Sufyan Latif Ali Discussion: This session explored the fundamental principles of international humanitarian law (IHL), the protection mechanisms it offers to vulnerable groups, particularly juveniles, and the legal frameworks preventing their involvement in armed conflicts. Criminal Responsibility for Juveniles Participating in Armed Conflicts Lecturer: A.M.D. Nagham Hamad Ali Discussion: This segment analyzed the criminal liability of juveniles engaged in both international and non-international armed conflicts, outlining legal measures and international conventions aimed at preventing juvenile recruitment and ensuring accountability for those who exploit minors in warfare. Objectives of the Symposium Raising Awareness of international humanitarian law and its protective role for juveniles. Highlighting Legal Protections against the recruitment and use of minors in armed conflicts. Discussing Criminal Responsibility and the legal implications for juveniles and those who involve them in conflicts. Enhancing Cooperation between academia, law enforcement, and community institutions to safeguard children from conflict-related exploitation. This symposium is part of the University of Fallujah’s ongoing efforts to contribute to legal scholarship, promote human rights, and foster collaborations between academic and security institutions for the benefit of society.
