Today, Wednesday, November 15, 2023, the President of the University of Fallujah, Professor Dr. Sabah Ibrahim Hammadi, attended the scientific symposium held by the College of Islamic Sciences under the title “Modern Reading of the Legal Text - Statement and Criticism,”
within the “My Seminar” program. The symposium aimed to clarify the concept of “modernist reading” and how to differentiate between it and the concepts that overlap with it, and the extent of the legitimacy and feasibility of this reading, as well as knowing the possibility of considering it a scientific addition. True, especially with regard to modern and contemporary Qur’anic study, or classifying it as a type of cultural camouflage, with the intention of re-inviting a cognitive break with heritage. The symposium included three axes:
Professor Dr. Mohamed Hadi Mohamed spoke in the first topic Including the modernist reading and the deviation of linguistic rooting, while the second axis dealt with the modernist reading of the Qur’anic text, presented by Dr. Muhannad Subhi Hwaish, while the third axis, in which he lectured, touched on A.M.D. Abdul Qadir Muhammad Hussein to the modernist reading of the Prophet’s Sunnah. The holding of this symposium comes within a series of scientific symposiums held by the University of Fallujah as a translation of its mission and its adopted vision.
