Under the direct guidance of the respected President of the University of Fallujah, Professor Dr. Ahmed Suleiman Hamad, the Scientific Affairs Department at the University Presidency held on Saturday, July 27, 2024, in cooperation with the Department of Construction and Projects and the Center for Continuing Education, a virtual scientific symposium (remotely) via the Google Meet platform entitled: “Towards low-carbon sustainable concrete.”
The symposium, in which Professor Khairunisa Muthusamy from the University of Malaysia Pahang lectured, highlighted the latest innovations and technologies in the field of Sustainable concrete.
Professor Khairunisa Muthusamy explained that using “POFA” as an alternative to cement in proportions ranging from 10% to 50% has great benefits, as studies have proven that concrete containing “POFA” has greater compressive strength over time, and an increase in its durability compared to traditional concrete devoid of “POFA”.
The symposium witnessed a distinguished interaction on the part of the participants, and included many questions, inquiries and inquiries, which the lecture answered in a comprehensive manner. Fits with the topic of the symposium; Which achieved new additions and illumination that affected multiple aspects of the subject.
This symposium comes within the framework of the University of Fallujah’s efforts to enhance knowledge and innovation in engineering fields, and encourage the use of sustainable technologies that contribute to reducing carbon emissions and achieving sustainable development goals.
