On Tuesday, March 12, 2024, the University of Fallujah launched a wide-scale tree planting campaign for the University Campus compound space yards, in observance of the National Arbor Day, under the theme “Let’s Turn the Desert into a Green Oasis.” H.E. Mr. Chancellor Ahmed Suleiman Hamad, along with university staff and students, participated in the tree planting campaign.
The event was attended by Admin VP Dr. Suleiman Barak Al-Jumaili as well as school deans and department directors. Dr. Hamad planted the first seedling to kick off the campaign, emphasizing its importance and commending the efforts of the organizers and participants in this initiative. He reaffirmed the university's commitment to supporting national efforts to combat desertification and mitigate the negative effects of climate change.
The campaign aims to raise awareness about the importance of preserving vegetation cover, increasing green areas, and enhancing the aesthetic value of the university environment. It included the planting of various types of seedlings, flowers, and palm trees, with widespread participation from male and female students.
It is worth mentioning that Iraqi MOHESR designated March 12th as "National Arbor Day," coinciding with the initiative to plant five million trees and palm trees launched by the Iraqi Prime Minister Office, to combat desertification. Department of Public Media and PRs
