The College of Law at the University of Fallujah held today, Tuesday, March 5, 2024, a scientific symposium entitled “The general budget in Iraq between the balance of the economy and the law,” under the auspices of the University President, Professor Dr. Ahmed Suleiman Hamad, and under the slogan “The law is the basic gateway to achieving the desired economic reform.”
The symposium, which was moderated by Prof. Ammar Rajab Muaishar, and it was attended by the Assistant President of the University for Administrative Affairs, Professor Dr. Suleiman Barak Al-Jumaili, and the Dean of the College of Administration and Economics, Prof. M.D. Muhannad Khalifa, and a number of professors and students at the College of Law, discussed two main axes.
The first axis, in which the advisor to the Iraqi Prime Minister for Financial Affairs and former member of the Ministerial Economic Council, lectured, Professor Dr. Mazhar Muhammad Salih, addressed the school methodology to which public budgets have been subjected during the past two decades, while the second axis, which was presented by the Dean of the College, Prof. Dr. Raed Naji Ahmed shed light on the legal shortcomings in public budgets in Iraq (the 2023 budget as a model).
The symposium aimed to discuss the problems in the legal texts regulating the public budget law in Iraq, and analyze them from an economic and legal perspective, arriving at appropriate recommendations to address them. Department of Media and Government Communications
