The College of Islamic Sciences at the University of Fallujah discussed the higher diploma thesis equivalent to a master’s degree entitled “The Role of Iraqi Sports Journalism in Reducing Intolerance among Iraqi Youth - An Applied Study.”
The thesis, which was presented by student Jamal Hamid Ali Fayyad under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Hassan Ibrahim Abd, to identify the nature and forms of fanaticism within the sports community, and explain its causes and manifestations, as well as examining the role of the Iraqi press in alleviating the severity of this fanaticism and developing youth awareness of its harms and negative effects on the sports public.
The discussion committee was headed by Prof. Dr. Labib Zoyan Masikh, whose membership included Prof. Dr. Omar Jiyad Ali, and A.M.D. Abdul Razzaq Jassim Mahmoud. The results of the letter indicated that the problem of sports fanaticism has negative effects that are not limited to the individual only, but extend to the entire society.
The results of the letter confirmed that the Iraqi press plays a decisive role in addressing and controlling this problem, and preventing it from turning into a state of violence and riots.
