The College of Medicine at the University of Fallujah organized an awareness symposium on the dangers of electronic blackmail and how to deal with them, in the presence of a group of faculty members, associates, and students.
The symposium, which was moderated by M.D., aimed to Shaima Nouri focused on raising awareness among the student community about the dangers of electronic blackmail, explaining the ways and methods that blackmailers use to trap their victims, and explaining how to prevent this dangerous phenomenon.
During the symposium, the Director of the Department of Media and Government Communication at the University Presidency, Prof. Muhammad Rafi Labad, and the Assistant Dean of the College for Administrative Affairs, M.M. Youssef Zabin Khudair gave a comprehensive joint lecture on electronic blackmail, which included its definition, types, causes and motives, its negative effects on victims, and ways to prevent it.
The lecture also shed light on new media and its role in the spread of the phenomenon of electronic blackmail. A.M.D. stressed Muhammad Rafi stressed the importance of awareness of the dangers of electronic blackmail and warned of the dangers of sharing personal information on the Internet, presenting a number of tips on how to use social media safely.
The symposium included an open discussion among the attendees, where many questions were raised about ways to deal with cases of electronic blackmail, and how to protect themselves from these crimes. The symposium recommended the necessity of spreading awareness about the dangers of electronic blackmail among all segments of society and encouraging students to report any cases of blackmail to which they are exposed.
