University of Fallujah Hosts Symposium on Drug Spread in Anbar
On Wednesday, February 28, 2024, the College of Medicine at the University of Fallujah organized a scientific symposium titled “The Phenomenon of Drug Spread in Anbar,” in collaboration with the Independent Council of Notables and Sons of Fallujah and the Drug Control Office in Fallujah. The event was held under the patronage of University President Professor Dr. Ahmed Suleiman Hamad.
The symposium, which included Prof. Dr. Muhammad Jubayr Mahidi, Dean of the College of Applied Sciences, and other administrative department directors, focused on:
- The harms of drug abuse and its dangers to health.
- The reasons behind drug addiction and its legal consequences.
- The role of universities in raising awareness and combating drug abuse in society.
The discussions highlighted the need for continuous education and collective action from all parties to curb the spread of drugs, particularly among young people, who are especially vulnerable to this growing issue. The university reaffirmed its commitment to confronting the drug phenomenon through educational seminars, awareness campaigns, and collaboration with relevant authorities.
