This division is responsible for regulating the movement of hazardous and toxic chemical and biological materials in the relevant colleges and controlling their circulation through coordination with the deans of the colleges and the associate deans for administrative affairs, in accordance with the instructions issued by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research – Research and Development Department / Safety and Security Division (CBRN).
Tasks and Duties:
The division is responsible for the following duties under the supervision and approval of the respected Assistant President of the University for Scientific Affairs, who is to be informed of all procedures related to the division:
- Preparing semi-annual reports on the total inventory of hazardous and toxic chemical and biological materials in the university's colleges and submitting them to the Research and Development Department of the Ministry.
- Monitoring the mechanisms of storing and handling hazardous and toxic materials in the colleges’ warehouses and labs, and correcting any issues.
- Informing relevant colleges about safe storage and handling conditions for such materials according to international standards.
- Providing relevant labs and warehouses with identification labels and necessary charts explaining safe handling and storage.
- Conducting field visits to relevant colleges’ warehouses and labs to verify the implementation of professional safety standards locally and internationally.
- Coordinating with local and international institutions specializing in the management of hazardous materials and identifying modern technological pathways for environmentally safe and administratively controlled storage and handling.
